100 Mile House crime

With wildfires tearing apart the Cariboo, some citizens are not following proper procedures in evacuated towns.

100 Mile House RCMP arrested a man for being unlawfully in an Evacuation Zone.

RCMP officers were doing a general duty patrol in 100 Mile house, they were alerted to the male when they observed a light flick on and off in a residence off of Watson Lake Road.

The 51 year old man who is a resident of 100 Mile house was found hiding in the backyard of the residence and arrested without incident.

Further investigation revealed the male had been asked to go to the residence by the home owner, to check on, and feed a pet that was left behind.

Staff Sergeant Annie Linteau urges the public to follow proper procedures.

Requests for temporary access permits should be directed to the Regional District office in your area.

In addition, BCSPCA has community resources in place to support pet and livestock care.
