Most of 100 Mile House evacuation lifted, 4 lakes reopen

A large portion of 100 Mile House’s evacuation order was lifted on Saturday, as well as areas in the South Cariboo, allowing many people back in their homes.

BC Wildfire Services have announced that Gustafsen fire is 90 per cent contained and people were allowed back in to the area as of 2 p.m.

The public is also allowed on Watson Lake, Lac La Hache, Williams Lake and Horse Lake.

The BC Wildfire Service is still urging the public to be mindful of emergency aircrafts that may still need access to water. If you see aircrafts coming towards the lake, make your way to the shore as quickly as possible for firefighting efforts are not affected. Aircrafts need plenty of room to do their job safely.

Officials are still closely monitoring the situation and may reinstate restriction orders if necessary.
