In June, key members of BC’s justice and public safety sectors met with Indigenous leaders for the 10th BC Justice Summit.
The goal of the summit was to identify and accelerate changes in interactions between Indigenous peoples and BC’s justice system.
Today, a report was released detailing the intensive discussions.
Some key points highlighted in the report include: a mental health system which better incorporates Indigenous people, more holistic health options, an increase in Indigenous representation within the justice system, and the incorporation and respect for Indigenous laws.
