3 New emergency support centres open up in Kitimat-Stikine.

As a response to the flurry of wildfire caused evacuations in the area, the Regional District of Kitimat Stikine has opened up 3 emergency reception centres, two in Terrace alone.

Both the District offices in Terrace, located at 4545 Lazelle Avenue, and the Kitsumkalum Community Hall will open their doors to evacuees.

The District centre will operate from 9 am to 5:30 pm, while the Hall is open for a two hour stretch from 6 pm to 8 pm.

A third centre is also available in Dease Lake at People’s Haven on 1 Stikine Street.

Evacuees are asked to please head to their preferred location and register with staff.

The reception centres will provide families with vouchers to cover food and lodging.
