What started off as a small residential construction company is now a multi-million dollar diversified business.
Garry Merkel is the CEO and president of the TNDC.
He says over the 30 years there have been many learning experiences.
Besides the growing pains of managing a large growing business, one of the major challenges they faced was to develop a protocol with the political leadership.
He says the corporation has now transitioned to become a professional, highly disciplined workforce
There were some bumps along the way though, and the corporation had to adapt itself in a competitive business environment.
He says while there may be projects that give preference to First Nations businesses, it’s only enough to get a foot in the door.Established in 1985, the TNDC now employs 30 core employees and hundreds of seasonal workers.
