Local governments in BC will have access to 500 thousand dollars in grant money to improve the lives of senior citizens in their communities in 2019.
Starting yesterday, local governments will be able to apply for up to 25 thousand dollars in age friendly grants to go towards projects that make it easier for the elderly to remain a part of their communities.
Examples include, but are not limited to: senior housing and transportation plans, social connectedness and mental health projects, and dementia support.
Five Indigenous communities will also be selected to recieve the age-friendly grants.
Communities have until November 2nd to apply for the 2019 intake.
