Clean up efforts have started in the community of Telegraph Creek after the Alkali Lake wildfire forced residents to evacuate last month.
Official numbers now list 56 structures damaged by the flames, with 27 of those being homes.
Tahltan Chief Rick McLean says that, as it stands, the community looks like a scene from a war movie, with lots of work to be done before residents can begin to return home.
The BC Wildfire Service has dropped the fire to a level 1 danger rating and begun cleanup efforts, as they hope to have evacuees return home by the end of October.
For the time being, the community remains under an evacuation order.
