Aboriginal Relations Minister John Rustad says B.C. students will soon study the impacts of colonialism, aboriginal history and oppression.
A new curriculum will teach kindergarten to grade 12 students about Canada’s residential schools and their ongoing impact.
Rustad says kindergarten students will also be expected to learn about indigenous plants and animals, while grade 5 students will learn about aboriginal environmental stewardship.
The curriculum is about to be released to teachers and schools across the province in preparation for the new academic year.
