UNBC will be getting $200,000 from the province as part of the Aboriginal Service Plan program.
The program will provide $3.7 million in funding to 11 post-secondary institutions for Aboriginal students.
The University of Northern BC will be using it’s share of the funding for five programs.
The programs at UNBC aim to help Aboriginal students increase access, retention, and completion, as well as improve transition opportunities.
The funding will be go to the Aboriginal Alumni Speaker Series, Aboriginal Community Connections Coordinator, Elders in Residence, Regional Aboriginal Academic Coaches, and Spring into Transitions.
The College of New Caledonia and Northwest Community College are also receiving funds from this program.
