Elevated pollution levels in the Bulkley Valley and the Lakes have prompted an air advisory.
The provincial environment ministry and Northern Health issued the advisory for the Houston area due to high concentrations of fine particulate in the air.
People with chronic underlying medical conditions should postpone strenuous exercise until the advisory is lifted. Officials say exposure is a particular concern for infants, the elderly, and people with diabetes, lung, or heart disease.
Open burning restrictions are in effect for the Morice Timber Supply Area until Tuesday October the 10th, at 9:00 am.
For the duration of this advisory, the use of woostoves is prohibited within the District of Houston, unless the woodstove is the only source of heat in a dwelling.
Elevated pollutions levels are expected to remain until sometime Monday.
