Air Quality Advisory in effect for Smithers and Houston

Residents in Smithers and Houston are under an Air Quality Advisory.

The Ministry of Environment along with Northern Health have issued the advisory that will be in effect until further notice.

The step has been taken due to the amount of fine particulate matter in the air.

Wood stove use, unless it is your only source of heating, has been banned as has all open burning.

Residents are being told to avoid strenuous exercise and if possible remain indoors. Exposure is of conern for infants, those with repiratory or diabetes or heart problems and seniors.
