Keep your replica handguns, paintball guns, and BB guns in the trunk or leave them at home.
That’s the message from Smithers RCMP after a tense situation involving police and three men Friday.
Mounties got a complaint about three males in a car with a handgun shortly after 5 pm.
RCMP says officers performed a high-risk take down of the vehicle’s occupants in the Trout Creek area.
The three men were released without charges after a search of the car revealed three AirSoft BB guns, including a replica of a Colt .45 pistol and another replicating an assault rifle.
Smithers RCMP says it can be tough to tell the difference between a real firearm and some replicas which can create safety risk when police are called to investigate.
