Alkali Lake fire no longer considered wildfire of note

As of this morning, the BC Wildfire Service no longer considers the Alkali Lake wildfire near Telegraph Creek to be a wildfire of note.

Though the fire is still the largest burning in BC, according to Chief Information Officer Kevin Skrepnek, the blaze is considered contained and not expected to grow any further.

Skrepnek says there is still plenty of work to be done on the ground though before residents will be able to safely return home.
