Crews on the Alkali Lake wildfire in Telegraph Creek were able to finally begin significant containment efforts over the weekend.

The 39 thousand hectare fire is now listed at 11 percent with a 125 person crew fighting the blaze.

Ministry of Transportation crews on site have brought in equipment today to begin grading roads to ensure safety of those travelling on them.

The BC Wildfire Service is expecting the fire’s activity to pick up again today as strong northerly winds are expected this evening.

Teams are continuing to focus on relocating equipment today to better protect structures in the Telegraph Creek and Glenora communities.
