Alkali Lake wildfire update

An evacuation order remains in effect for an area near Alkali Lake.

The Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine issued the order earlier in the week due to a wildfire in the area threatening structures.

Residents who live between the area west of Sawmill Lake and Glenora on Highway 51 are asked to leave the area immediately if they have not already.

A reception centre has been set up for evacuees at the Dease Lake Community Hall at 2102 1st Avenue.

The community of Telagraph Creek is currently NOT under an advisory and no structures in that area are being threatened.
