The First Nation Wild Salmon Alliance is calling on the province to suspend all applications for permits and tenures for fish farms on the coast.
There’s concern that federal government is pushing the province to allow fish farms on the North and Central Coast.
Bob Chamberlin is the chair of the First Nation Wild Salmon Alliance.
He says the alliance has previously focused on the Fraser River stock, but with the possibility of fish farm expansion northwards, they want to work with First Nations on the North and Central Coast by providing information and guidance.
Chamberlin says he’s also concerned the province’s is using faulty science to justify fish farm expansion.
