The Regional District of Kitimat and Stikine board will discuss the on-going debate over the future of Thornhill tonight.
Coralee Oakes, the Minister of Community, Sport, and Cultural Development wrote a letter to the regional board saying the debate over whether Thornhill should be incorporated or amalgamated with Terrace deserves further study.
The minister is offering $60,000 to the regional district to study services, governance, and planning in the greater Terrace area.
The letter goes on to say that after the study is completed, the minister will consult with stakeholders along with the gathered information, to decide if Thornhill should become its own municipality or not.
The board meets tonight at 7pm.
