BC Green Party Leader Andrew Weaver is calling for the province to ban foreign home buyers in BC.
Weaver says that foreign investors are causing housing prices in BC to be driven up, and that the government should put rules in place to ban them rather than tax them.
According to Weaver, foreign buyers are creating a domino effect by purchasing expensive homes and forcing British Columbians in to secondary homes, which further escalates prices.
Weaver’s claims come despite the fact that numbers show only a small percentage of properties are purchased by foreign buyers.
