Batten down the hatches! Hurricane remnants to hit North and Central Coasts

Heavy rain and high winds are expected to batter the North and Central Coasts Thursday and throughout the weekend.

Environment Canada says the remnants of Hurricane Oho will approach the the North Coast Thursday night bringing heavy downpours to Haida Gwaii and the North Coast.

Forecasters say stronger southeasterly winds and rain are expected Friday as an intense storm develops from the remnants of the hurricane.

In the wake of the storm, a strong westerly flow will bring another disturbance to the Central Coast Saturday morning and yet another storm to the North Coast Sunday.

Environment Canada says computer models estimate rainfall in the 100 to 200 mm range from Friday to Sunday night.
