The BC government has announced a $6.1 million dollar funding boost which it says will cut wait lists for trades training across BC.
The province says the money will open up 1,429 additional trade seats at 14 post-secondary schools in 2015/2016, including the College of New Caledonia and Northwest Community College.
NWCC will receive $ 729,120 to open up 166 seats across welding, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and cooking programs.
CNC will get $330,496 to open up 64 seats in electrical, millwright, welding, electrical, and power engineering programs.
The government says the openings include 783 at the foundation level and 646 apprenticeship seats.
