Despite thousands of new part time jobs in BC in May, the country’s overall employment rate took a sizeable hit.
According to Statcan’s May report, the country as a whole lost more than 75 hundred jobs last month thanks to the loss of 31 thousand full time positions.
While Canada’s unemployment rate stayed firm at 5.8 percent, BC’s dropped slightly to 4.8 percent for the month.
The improvement in the province is credited to strong job creation from certain sectors, namely the food and accomodation services sectors.
