The BC Federation of Labour is holding its 2015 regional conference in Terrace Friday and Saturday.
BC FED President Irene Lanzinger says delegates will be discussing the federation’s minimum wage campaign, workplace health and safety, as well as the upcoming federal election.
Lanzinger says the perils of the boom-bust economy in northwest BC and how best to share the wealth of the region’s resources will also be up for discussion.
Lanzinger says she’ll also be traveling to Kitimat to meet with striking municipal workers who’ve been off the job since the end of February.
While, she wouldn’t comment on the specific details of the labour dispute, she hopes that a deal can be reached quickly with the support of a mediator.
