BC Ferries and BC Hydro feeling impact of storm

The remnants of Hurricane Oho appear to be having an effect on Haida Gwaii and the North Coast.

BC Ferries cancelled morning sailings between Skidegate and Alliford Bay because of adverse weather. The Ferry corporation yesterday cancelled sailings between Prince Rupert and Skidegate.

BC Hydro has restored some early morning power outages on Haida Gwaii and in Kitimat. The utility says nearly 1300 customers were in the dark south of Haisla Boulevard in the Kitimat area while a tree across wires knocked out the electricity to over 300 customers in Port Clements.

BC Hydro has placed additional crews on Haida Gwaii and in the Central Coast region in anticipation of the major storm systems hitting the BC Coast.
