Wildfires have been tearing up the Central and Southern Interior and it’s lead to thousands without power according to BC Hydro.
There are currently about 7,000 customers without power in Williams Lake and 100 Mile House, and BC Hydro is awaiting clearance from fire officials before beginning work.
BC Hydro has been working with Emergency Management BC and fire officials to get the power back up and running.
After an initial evaluation, reports show there is damage to around 170 power poles, 95 cross arms, 90 spans of wire and 30 transformers and these numbers are expected to rise.
Dave Mosher is with BC Hydro and he says crews from the lower mainland and Vancouver Island were called in to help.
Currently, there is no estimate on how much it’s costed BC Hydro as their number one priority is to help residents.
