BC Minister says anti-LNG scientists haven’t done their homework

A BC minister is disagreeing with a group of scientists who say the draft environmental report for a liquefied natural gas plant is based on flawed science.

More than 130 scientists signed an open letter to federal Environment Minister Catherine McKenna, urging her to reject a report on the impacts of a 36-billion dollar LNG plant proposed for BC’s northwest coast.

The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency released a report last month that says the Petronas-backed project near Prince Rupert would pose minimal risks to fish and fisheries, but the scientists disagree.

Natural Gas Development Minister Rich Coleman says the scientists haven’t done their homework and reached the wrong conclusion about the draft report.
