Climate change is the key concern for 42 Order of Canada recipients in BC asking the Federal Government to abandon the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion.
A letter penned by the decorated British Columbians calls the issue one of climate vs. economy, and calls for the government to transition to cleaner energy and a more diversified economy.
In the letter, the group says it is their responsibility as members of the Order of Canada to protect and engage citizens across the country.
The pipeline, purchased by the Federal Government for 4.5 billion dollars, was stalled last month when the Federal Court of Appeals determined the government had not adequately consulted First Nations.
