A committee has been formed to examine the feasability of basic income as a way to combat poverty in BC.
UBC’s David Green, Simon Fraser University’s Jonathan Rhys Kesselman, and Lindsay Tedds of the University of Calgary will head up the committee.
Independant research will look in to the effects of basic income on both poverty levels and social supports, as well as examine how the labour market will shift over the next decade.
Research will begin later in the summer.
