With the new school year underway, many children will be returning to understaffed faculties accroding to the BC Teachers’ Federation.
Federation president Glen Hansman is blaming the provincial government’s failure to establish recomendations from a December task force for the more than 250 openings province-wide.
The task force came up with 6 immediate recommendations to solve the industry’s crisis, but has failed to act on the top recommendation: a province-wide recruitment and retention fund.
The fund would offset higher salaries and lower living expenses offered in other provinces to help make BC positions look more attractive.
