BC’s Wildfire Management Branch is sending personnel and equipment to help Alberta’s firefighting efforts.
88 personnel and two planes will be heading to Edmonton tomorrow, where they’ll be deployed as needed.
The request for help was made through the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre, says Navi Saini (sah-nee) of the Wildfire Management Branch.
She also says wildfire conditions in BC are at a point where those resources aren’t needed in the province.
Last year’s fire season was extremely busy for the province, and BC imported over 1,200 personnel through the interagency office.
Saini also wants to remind people to take care and make proper precautions while having campfires.
This season’s largest fire so far, the Little Bobtail Lake wildfire, 70km southwest of Prince George has been completely contained, and an evacuation order for about 80 residents has been changed to an alert.
