The BC Federation of Labour is calling for all branches of government to come together to improve pharmacare.
According to the Federation, Canada is the only country with a universal health care program that does not include prescription drug coverage.
800 thousand people in BC lack employer funded drug coverage, according to the Federation, and millions of people across Canada are unable to afford prescription drugs.
On top of that, BC’s massive gap between the rich and poor drive prices even higher, says the BCFED’s release this afternoon.
In a release this morning, the BCFED declared their support for a universal single payer pharmacare system, which they claim is the most effective way to solve the problem.
The release calls for federal, provincial, and territorial governments to all come together for a solution to what they call a growing crisis.
