Bear destroys car for food

Conservation Officers are reminding people not to leave food in their vehicles after a bear destroyed a car in West Vancouver trying to get at food inside.

Deputy chief Chris Doyle of the BC Conservation Officer Service says these type of break-ins actually happen quite often. He says bears can be very motivated to get at food inside vehicles, and the more time they have, the more damage they can cause.

He’s warning people living in “bear country” to be vigilant and says the best way to prevent a bear break-in is to empty your car of all food and garbage.
