The provincial government is providing money for improvements to a small Central Coast airport.
The BC Government is kicking in nearly $200,000 in BC Air Access Program money to support construction of a terminal building at the Bella Bella Airport.
Pacific Coastal Airlines operates flights from Bella Bella to Campbell River, Comox, Port Hardy and Vancouver.
The construction of a terminal building will provide for more seating, space for passengers, washrooms for those with disabilities, and more comfortable facility overall.
The Bella Bella Airport Authority will provide the rest of the funding for the $480,000 project.
Heiltsuk Nation Chief Councillor Marilyn Slett says the airport is a vital transportation link on the Central Coast for tourism, emergency services, and forestry.
