It appears the strike by Kitimat municipal workers won’t be ending any time soon.
The District of Kitimat says workers represented by Unifor have rejected binding arbitration.
Sending the dispute to an arbitrator would’ve meant workers returning to the job while an agreement was being drawn up.
In a news release issued Thursday morning, the District of Kitimat says it is unfortunate that the union was not able to trust an arbitrator to assist in finalizing a collective agreement.
The latest event affected by the strike is Bull-O-Rama, which was canceled because there was no guarantee the Tamitik Arena would be available.
The strike has dragged on since the end of February.
