One tiny northern British Columbia First Nations community celebrated a momentous occasion more than 14 years in the making this weekend.
After nearly a decade and a half, the 9 residents Tl’azt’en community of Middle River are rejoicing over the end to their boil water advisory.
For most of that time, clean drinking water has been delivered via truck from Fort St James.
But with this weekend’s official opening of the community’s new water treatment plant, residents will be enjoying their own water supply for the first time in a long time.
The Federal Government has made a promise to bring an end to the slew of boil water advisories still plaguing many northern First Nations communities.
