A bomb threat in Fort St John yesterday gave RCMP an early Halloween scare.
Police were called to the Totem Mall early in the afternoon after a man reportedly told security guards that he was in possession of a bomb.
Mall security questioned the man twice after he was spotted wandering the mall curiously with a duffle bag.
Police were able to quickly locate the man and take him in to custody without incident.
When police asked the man what was in the bag, he once again replied with “a bomb”.
Officers were able to quickly determine there was no bomb in the bag, which was actually filled with groceries.
Police also searched the mall, but were unable to find any signs of danger to the public.
RCMP would like to remind residents that they take any threat to public safety very seriously.
Charges are expected to be laid as a result of the incident.
