Bruce Bidgood chosen to represent NDP in Skeena riding

Former Terrace City Councillor Bruce Bidgood is the NDP candidate for the Skeena riding in the upcoming provincial election.

Bidgood beat out Michael Prevost, Nicole Halbauer, and Sarah Zimmerman for the spot.

He was chosen by registered NDP voters through a ranked ballot system. It took around three hours to get the final results.

Bidgood says he’s thrilled that he’ll represent the party in the Skeena riding.

He was happy that himself and the other candidates ran a friendly campaign to determine the nominee.

He says economic development, First Nations consultations, and housing are a few issues he wants to discuss and address if he becomes MLA.

Bidgood is replacing out going NDP MLA Robin Austin, who has been MLA since 2005.

Austin says he’s confident that Bidgood can keep the riding as a NDP seat.

The election is slated to take place on May 9th.
