The ice jam on the Bulkley River has forced some Smithers residents to leave their homes.
Bill Miller is the chair of the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako.
He says while there hasn’t been an official evacuation order, some residents have decided to voluntarily leave.
He estimates there are about 15 to 20 residences affected so far in the Ebenezer flats area.
Officially there hasn’t been any changes in the status of the ice jam, but Miller says they’re monitoring the situation.
