Members of the Burns Lake community are reacting to news that their former mayor has been charged with sex crimes.
Lake Babine Nation Chief Wilf Adam says his community is angry and disheartened after its former mayor was charged with sex-related offences.
Adam says he also has questions about the length of time it took the RCMP to tell the community that Luke Strimbold, the former mayor of Burns Lake, has been charged with numerous counts of sexual assault and related offences.
Mary Teegee, executive director of child and family services at Carrier Sekani Family Services, says everybody knows everybody in the small community and there are lots of feelings of shock and sadness.
