The April 10-May 12, 2018, exhibition at Smithers Art Gallery is “Totem Reflections” by Gitxsan artist Arlene Ness from Hazelton in the Main Gallery, a collection of cultural imagery centred around the ancient totem poles still alive today, and “Awakening Spirit” by Arimathea Pappas from Clinton, BC, in the Mini Gallery, a collection of art created from natural materials with added sculptural components made of clay. Visual artists in the northwest are invited to submit up to three art pieces for an upcoming exhibition ‘Northwest Artists’ at the Kitimat Museum & Archives. There is no theme to this exhibition; almost all subjects and 2D mediums will be accepted.
Entry forms are available online at www.kitimatmuseum.ca, or at the Kitimat Museum & Archives front desk. Deadline for entry is May 25, 2018. All artwork must be in the Museum by June 11, 2018, for installation. If your artwork requires framing, the Kitimat Museum has two frame sizes available for use, call or email for details.

This show is a mix of art, photography, and pottery by art class students of the local middle and secondary school.
You are invited to Bulkley Valley Farmers’ Market in Smithers to pick up some afternoon picnic supplies, groceries for the week, and Saturday dinner fixings from local farms and producers. Each week you’ll find a fresh selection of fresh and organic produce, meat, eggs, poultry, artisanal prepared food, baking and local honey. You will also find the unique talents of local artists and crafters who offer jewelry, wood-working, soaps, stained glass, sewing and much more. Pay a visit to this beautiful laid-back market where you can stop and chat with the producers, sip coffee and enjoy live music.
