Celebrate Quebec’s National Holiday at Heritage Park with live entertainment, a poutine eating contest, food from Beyond Burgers, a bouncy castle and games for the whole family!
This is an information session for UNBC’s Gitxsan Developmental Standard Term Certificate (DSTC), which is a university credit program that prepares students to teach Gitxsanimx language and culture in schools.
This certificate is granted by the Teacher Regulation Branch (TRB) of the Ministry of Education. Upon completion, application is made to the TRB for the Developmental Standard Term Certificate.
The full program will meet the requirements for three separate UNBC credentials:
1. Certificate in First Nations Language;
2. Diploma in First Nations Language;
3. DSTC Certificate.
Upon successful completion of the DSTC students can transfer their credits to pursue a UNBC undergraduate degree, such as a Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Arts (First Nations Studies), or a Bachelor of Social Work.
Heritage Park will be hosting their annual Canada day event. This event will feature a silent auction, artist, pony ride, live music, food, and games for the entire family to enjoy. It is free admission and everyone is welcome.

The Lakes District Fall Fair Association in Burns Lake is proud to present the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Musical Ride! A Canadian tradition since 1876, a troop of 32 scarlet coated “Mounties” on majestic black horses present a 30 minute show of intricate figures and cavalry drills choreographed to music. When the Musical Ride visits a community as part of its tour, it helps raise funds to assist charities and non-profit organizations that make a difference in your community. Take advantage of this truly Canadian experience and see one of our national treasures perform live at the Lakes District Fall Fairgrounds on July 24th at 1pm and 6pm.
