Canada’s largest mineral exporter won’t be going ahead with a multi-million dollar export terminal in Prince Rupert.
Potash giant Canpotex Limited says the decision not to go ahead with the $775 million dollar project was based on economic and commercial considerations.
Canpotex President and CEO Ken Sietz says the company has sufficient port access and terminal capacity through terminals in Vancouver, Saint John and Portland.
“This decision was made after careful deliberation of Canpotex’s current and anticipated terminal capacity needs, and the options we have to meet those needs” said Ken Seitz in a news release.
Seitz says the company sincerely appreciates the relationships developed over the years that the project, first announced in 2008, was considered.
