A car was found in the Skeena River yesterday.

On October 26, at 1:39pm, the New Hazelton RCMP received a call that there was a red car in the Skeena River about 1km west of the Highway 16/37 junction.

They found a red Pontiac Sunfire and after extracting it, police were able to determine there was no one in the car when it entered the river.

The RCMP are attempting to follow up with registered owner, but they believe someone else was operating the car at the time.

Police are asking anyone who may have any information regarding this vehicle or its operation anytime prior to the time of the river sighting, to contact the New Hazelton RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
