Cariboo crash victim working in Terrace

RCMP have not released his name, but the 36 year-old man who died in a crash on Highway 97 Thursday night was working in Terrace.

Investigators say the man’s pickup was heading south when it collided with a north-bound tractor trailer unit just south of Lac la Hache Provincial Park Campground at about 11:30 p.m.

Emergency crews were able to free a female passenger with non life-threatening injuries from the truck, but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the tractor trailer unit was not injured.

RCMP say they don’t know the cause of the crash, but weather and road conditions may have been contributing factors.
