Cariboo Fire Centre fire prohibitions

Category 2 and 3 open fires will be prohibited in the Cariboo Fire Centre starting Thursday at noon.

These types of fires will be prohibited:

  • the burning of any waste, slash or other materials
  • stubble or grass fires of any size over any area
  • the use of fireworks, including firecrackers
  • the use of sky lanterns, tiki torches, or burning barrels or burning cages of any size or description
  • the use of binary exploding targets
  • the use of air curtain burners (forced-air burning systems)

Small campfires and cooking stoves are still allowed.

The prohibitions are in effect on Crown land, BC Parks, and private land in the Cariboo Fire Centre.
