A cat is lucky to be alive after she was found at a Prince George landfill last week.
A man taking his garbage to the Foothills Boulevard facility found the feline locked in a carrier among heaps of garbage when he investigated the source of loud mewing.
The BC SPCA’s Alex Schare says the crate was filled with frozen urine and the cat was cold, skinny, and infested with fleas.
Schare says the cat would’ve surely died and says it’s appalling that someone would throw a loving animal out like a piece garbage.
Staff estimate the short-haired white cat is approximately three years old. They’ve named her Gloria, after Gloria Gaynor, the singer behind the 1970s hit song “I will survive”.
SPCA say Gloria is friendly and is going to make someone a wonderful pet when she’s fully recovered.
