Celebrate Your Breasts is an art project that encourages women to accept themselves.
The project began with Nancy Pratt’s experiences after her breast implants ruptured.
She realized how interconnected breast implants are to a woman’s sense of self-esteem.
The project spun-off from her experiences connecting with other women who suffered from ruptured implants.
Pratt wants women to accept their body without unrealistic outside influences.
She says because of that pressure, many women are overlooking the potential health risks of implants.
But she says there’s hope.
Initially, many of the women who participated in her project had reservations.
Pratt encourages women to make an informed decision about implants, emphasizing implants are not risk-free.
She encourages women who do have implants, to follow Health Canada’s examination guidelines to ensure they haven’t ruptured.
The Celebrate Your Breasts Project is at the Terrace Art Gallery from March 6th to March 28th.
