Some good news for communities located near the Precipice Creek wildfire on the Central Coast.
The Central Coast Regional District has called off an evacuation order and alert related to the wildfire.
It says the Evacuation Alert (dated August 6 2017) and the Evacuation Order (dated August 8 2017) for the area from the foot of the Bella Coola Hill (Highway 20) north to the CCRD Boundary and east to Kappan Lake are rescinded.
Officials say the fire , burning approximately 53 kilometres east of Bella Coola and just over 23 kilometres outside Anahim Lake, is approximately 20 per cent contained.
Crews have been concentrating on building fire guards and making structural assessments of homes and other infrastructure in Anahim Lake.
Thick smoke has hampered helicopter bucketing operations and the deployment of ground crews to several flanks of the fire.
The regional district is hoping a change in the weather after Thursday will clear out some of the smoke in the region.
