A Charlie Lake resident is facing charges after someone showed up at a party with a rifle over the weekend.
Fort St. John RCMP says the suspect showed up uninvited at a family celebration early Sunday morning and was asked to leave.
Investigators say the person came back about 40 minutes later with what appeared to be a rifle and assaulted a woman while trying to get into the party.
People at the party were able to detain the suspect and call police.
RCMP searched the suspect’s home and secured a number of additional firearms.
Mounties believe it was an isolated incident fueled by alcohol.
The suspect was expected to make a court appearance Monday afternoon.
