A new facility will bring more education opportunities to a First Nation in the Burns Lake area.
The Cheslatta Carrier Nation held the grand opening of its Education Centre Wednesday.
As part of the opening, the Cheslatta also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the College of New Caledonia which the college says will inform work to provide more community-based programs.
“One of the most important aspects of education is accessibility. When students are able to learn in their own community, the whole region thrives,” said CNC President Henry Reiser. “This new education centre will improve access to post-secondary education and training within the community. “
In 2017, CNC worked with the Cheslatta Carrier Nation to bring 12 Continuing Education courses to the community.
The new Education Centre is scheduled to bring Adult Upgrading to the Cheslatta Carrier Nation in April.
CNC is also in the planning stages of having Digital Delivery Instruction technology installed which would allow students to receive support from the entire CNC community.
