A circus camp for kids is continuing in Chetwynd despite a funding scare.
The long running circus camp is held for five days, and exposes attendees to a wide range of circus activities.
To ensure anyone who wants to attend has the opportunity, the camp is only $20 or free.
This year’s registration maxed out in two weeks, and they managed to bring in those on the waiting list too.
Dianne Bassendowski is with the camp and she says it’s a unique experience for the children, and for the community.
The program is mainly funded through sponsorships and donations, but this year Bassendowski says many past sponsors couldn’t give as much or anything because of the economy.
She says the camp costs about $11,000 to run, but is adamant that no matter what, the camp will continue each year.
She says it’s just a matter of thinking outside of the box when it comes to funding, but says raising fees is an non-starter because it would mean some children won’t be able to attend.
This year’s camp runs from April 4th to 8th and will have 60 attendees.
Bassendowski also asks if any group is interested in helping out, to please contact her.
